THE PERFECT GAUCHO aka CULOTTES

Gauchos, culottes, wide leg high waters, whatever you call them! I cracked, bought myself a few pairs at Banana Republic and ASOS and I haven't looked back since.

 A little history lesson first. Gauchos are South American cowboys that rocked these pants.  Since I love cowboys, I figured I'd love the pants as well!

Culottes are French, for a pant that is so wide it literally looks like a skirt but has a split, and is in fact a pant. I love France so here we go again, really sorta loving these pants, skirt situation I got myself into here.

The key to wearing these pants is honestly proportion. At 8 months pregnant "proportion" is a strange term to even use in this blog post, but for all your non preggo peeps... proportion, proportion, proportion. Keep things voluminous and wide at the bottom with your pants and tight on top. I happened to swallow a large soccer ball so I'm a bit wider on top as well :)

Also if you've never tried to wear gaucho's then I suggest starting with a heel. Although Celine and Louis Vuitton showed these with flats, I think an average woman always feels better in a pair of heels. I certainly do. However they also look adorable with a cool sneaker, and transition well into warmer months with a killer Birkenstock.
